Synopsis

The novel is set in an endless underground passageway. One day, the protagonist is suddenly trapped in a looping world, searching for an exit under the rule of “not overlooking any abnormalities and turning back if they are found.”

Along the passageway, there are signs marked “Exit XX,” and the protagonist must navigate while assessing whether there are any abnormalities.
The abnormalities are not just visual anomalies, but are also linked to past sins, regrets, and psychological turmoil.

As the protagonist strives for the exit, he must confront his own memories and choices.

Review

The protagonist’s “inner voice” is carefully depicted. By listening to his inner voice, you can sense his frustration, doubts, and regrets. However, without careful reading, the story may not sink in.

The question of “what is the abnormality?” goes beyond simple horror and seems to expand to include life choices and feelings of guilt.

The film version is apparently popular, but the novel itself wasn’t my cup of tea. The setting lacked realism, and I found it difficult to engage.
